Wendy has been creating original prints since 1997 and is a member of both Cork Printmakers and Limerick Printmakers.
‘In my printmaking I am increasingly mixing traditional methods such as etching, drypoint and carborundum, with monotype, collage and drawing. Working in this way allows me to combine recurring elements with the once only ingredients that make each work in a series unique and unrepeatable.
Starting with a figurative image from my sketchbooks I reduce the amount of information, paring away until a few essential ingredients are left, producing a more or less abstract image that nevertheless retains a memory of the scene. A constant challenge in my artistic process is to find the right medium for a particular idea. There is a creative tension between the artisan skills of traditional techniques and the intuitive response to materials and inspiration that demands immediate expression.’

Wendy Dison prints have been exhibited throughout Ireland and in UK, Australia and Russia. They are in the collections of the OPW, AIB, Earthborn/Gordon Products, and Bantry General Hospital, and in private collections in Ireland, USA, UK, Canada, France, Malta and Germany.
